GemCare Wellness Announces the 2018 Recipient of Susan Raber-Satterfield Award
Brittney Pingel announced as Coach of the Year
Hudson, Ohio, March 6, 2019 — GemCare Wellness (GCW), a national health coaching and disease management company, awarded Brittney Pingel the 2018 Susan Raber-Satterfield Coach of the Year award. The award was named after the late Susan Raber-Satterfield who helped set the clinical direction and operations of GemCare Wellness coaching with her vision of making people healthier through smart, sustainable lifestyle choices.
Raber-Satterfield was the first hire for GemCare Wellness. She began her career there as an Engagement Services Manager in August 2012 and was promoted to Director of Operations in June 2015.
The award, given annually to the health coach who represents skills Satterfield possessed, looks at the level and quality of interaction with program members, the number of members that have succeeded at achieving their health and lifestyle goals, and the ability to motivate individuals to make lasting, lifestyle changes.
This year, Registered Dietitian and health coach Brittney Pingel was chosen to receive this honor. Pingel received her degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from California State University – Chico and then went on to receive her master’s degree in Nutritional Science from California State University – Long Beach. Beginning her journey with GemCare Wellness in 2016, Pingel has always gone above and beyond for her members while keeping a positive attitude.
“We were pleased to award Brittney with the Susan Raber-Satterfield, Coach of the Year Award,” Rob Pekare, GemCare Wellness Director of Operations said. “In her time with the company, Brittney has remained consistent with her high-quality work and continues to take the lead in providing continuing education to the staff. She is not only a mentor, but a role model for the other health coaches; she displays every quality of what GemCare Wellness and the Susan Raber-Satterfield Award represents.”
“It is with tremendous appreciation that I received the Susan Raber-Satterfield Coach of the Year Award,” said Pingel. “As dietitians, it is our goal to make a difference daily in terms of the nutrition, wellness, and overall quality of life of those that we work with. I feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to do just that as a Registered Dietitian at GemCare Wellness. I am also thankful for the opportunity to be inspired by the other phenomenal dietitians I work beside. It is my hope that we all continue to be compassionate and motivational for our members every day, and that we honor Susan with the work ethic and wellness we share.”
GemCare Wellness’ health coaches identify key obstacles and motivators to assist members in achieving lasting lifestyle habits that make an impact on their overall health. The health coaching program consists of Registered Dietitians who work closely with high risk individuals to establish a care plan to manage issues like weight, prediabetes, diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and more. Dietitians also work with members on nutritional counseling who wish to enhance their athletic performance through advice on diet and exercise.
